HOW TO SUCCESSFULLY START SOMETHING NEW

OVERCOME CHALLENGES THROUGH MINDSET SHIFTS

Beginning something fresh can be both daunting and thrilling, whether it's joining a new fitness class, going all in on a passion project, or switching career paths.

New endeavors are grand experiments.

This year will be my fifth season of hosting my podcast, and even though I have gathered a lot of evidence about what works and what doesn't, every new season has its own learning curve. As you embark on your journey, these are the four most valuable lessons I've learned firsthand.



When you begin something new, understand that it will come with challenges. You won't be perfect right out of the gate, and that's okay.

New beginnings suck, but expertise involves continuous learning.

My new fitness routine includes 10,000 steps a day, counting macros, and workouts three to four times a week. I switched my mindset to something positive by reminding myself that every expert was once a beginner.


NOTHING HAPPENS INSTANTLY

In the beginning, it might feel like nothing is happening. We're so conditioned to expect instant results. Patience is needed because results take time. Consistency is key. If you're consistent, results will follow.


ENERGY SHIFTS

Transform the desire for instant gratification into the energy of knowing. Instant gratification is the enemy of long-term growth. Show up for the future you and not for the immediate results. Shift your mindset from desperation to a place of knowing.

What you are working towards will happen if you’re putting in the work.

Trust that your consistent efforts will pay off, even if you can't see the results. The journey is more about the process than the immediate outcome.


CELEBRATE SMALL WINS

It's easy to fixate on the end goal, but celebrating small milestones helps keep you motivated. Whether it’s hitting your daily water intake, receiving positive feedback on your new project, or simply sitting down to meditate, even if you can't quite your mind, these small victories build the momentum needed for long-term success.


We all have our stories and struggles. I've had various fitness regimens before, but my current goal is to take care of my mind and body, not just look a certain way.


Your journey might have similar ups and downs. It's all part of being human, and there's beauty in that.


KEEP IT SIMPLE

Starting something new doesn't have to be complicated. Show up daily with intention and a knowing that your efforts will bear fruit. Slow down, do the work, and relax! Simplicity is often the key to success.


If you’re on the brink of starting something new, dive in. Be patient with yourself, embrace the learning curve, and let go of the need for instant gratification. Know that your consistent efforts are a deposit into the bank of future success.
